Lindsay Shannon
“If you can't hear the blues while you eat your ribs, you're eating in the wrong place.”
Lindsay Shannon opened BB's Lawnside BBQ in 1990 with a vision that combined his two passions: BBQ and live blues music. The result is one of the most unique and beloved venues in Kansas City — a place where the smoke and the music are equally important. Shannon's approach to BBQ draws on both KC tradition and the Cajun influences of his Louisiana connections, creating a menu that includes gumbo, crawfish etouffee, and jambalaya alongside traditional smoked ribs and pulled pork. Live blues every night of the week makes BB's as much a music venue as a restaurant, and Shannon has been instrumental in keeping the Kansas City blues scene alive.
Philosophy
BBQ and blues come from the same place — they're both about feeling, about soul, about making something beautiful out of simple ingredients.
Technique
Hickory smoke with KC tradition. The Cajun dishes are made from scratch with Louisiana-sourced ingredients. The crossover between smoke and spice creates a unique flavor profile.
